Prevention

Premedical intervention before diseases is one of the principal practices in traditional Chinese Medicine for tackling health problems and diseases. This can be achieved either with Chinese herbal medicines and/or acupuncture, dietary therapy, and exercises.

Sub-optimal health status is a physical state between health and disease and is characterised by ambiguous health complaints, lack of vitality, unexplained medical syndrome, chronic fatigue syndrome, chronic fatigue immune dysfunction syndrome and is regarded as a sub clinical, reversible stage of chronic disease.

With the emphasis on prevention, Di Wen will formulate an individualised healthcare plan to deal with sub-optimal health issues, and ageing related issues from the Chinese Medicine point of view.

Chronic Diseases

Chronic diseases are complex and varied in terms of their nature.  Many different illness and health conditions can be classified under the broad heading of chronic disease. Typically, chronic diseases are long-lasting, have persistent effects, and affect individuals' quality of life.   Di Wen has experiences in helping patients with chronic diseases.

Acupuncture and Women's Health

In one of the most thorough and balanced reviews to date, a team of researchers from Australia analyse acupuncture and fertility trials from more than 100 reports from around the world. They note that while many trials have looked at acupuncture performed on the day of embryo transfer in IVF cycles, few have looked at how Chinese medicine is usually practiced, and has been practiced for many hundreds of years, in the treatment of infertility in general. They point out that the majority of trials on IVF patients using acupuncture  (that did not use sham needling as a control) report increased pregnancy and/or live birth rates. There is also good evidence of the effect of acupuncture on menstrual health in general, but more needs to be done examining the treatment of infertility with individualised chinese medicine protocols. Chinese Medicine & Ageing

Memory impairment associated with ageing was a recognised condition in the classical Chinese Medicine literature. Many of the traditional Chinese herbal medicines frequently used as ingredients in classical formulas for memory impairment consistent with clinical features of Alzheimer’s disease remain in contemporary use, and experimental studies suggest biological activities relevant to Alzheimer’s disease.
